About Sarina
My name is Sarina Teuschler, and I am running for the Dutchess County Legislature to represent Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie. I’m running because I’ve spent the last several years disillusioned and disappointed by all sides of national politics; yet I believe our government has the capacity to do amazing things. I want to be the leader who makes a positive impact in our community.
As a life-long resident of Hyde Park, I know our area's unique challenges - such as lack of services for those differently-abled, and few youth programs. I have served Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie as a martial arts teacher as well as co-owner of T&T Karate, director of an anti-domestic violence organization, and employee of the Town of Hyde Park. Using my skill set and leadership experience, I know I can make the changes needed to bring Dutchess forward into a new era of prosperity.

My Skills & Experience
Deputy Town Clerk, 2020 - present
I am currently the Town of Hyde Park's Deputy Town Clerk, under the elected official. Town Clerks are the record keepers of the entire municipality - a very important job for transparency in government.
Secretary to the Zoning Board of Appeals, 2020 - present
In addition to my Clerk duties, I also work in the Planning & Zoning department as Secretary to the ZBA. I am responsible for processing applicants and maintaining records, creating agendas and recording minutes, and communicating with applicants and the Board.
Director of Hit Like A Girl, 2020 - present
After having taught many successful women's self-defense seminars, I decided to file as a nonprofit so I could reach more people. I am currently in the process of creating a self-defense and psychological program to combat domestic violence and sexual harassment through training that educates, empowers, and inspires confidence in women and girls.
Martial Arts Instructor & Event Director, 2011 - present
Since the school opened in 2011, I have been serving as T&T Karate's Head Instructor. I love working with kids and adults; because martial arts is more than kicking and punching. I help raise children, and guide adults to become better people. My role here is not only fun, but also important for the future of the community.
HPCSD Teacher Aide, 2018 - 2020
Before being chosen in 2019 for a full-time 1:1 aide position at Haviland Middle School, I was a substitute aide. In both the substitute and full-time roles, I enjoyed working with kids and helping them succeed in their academics.
In addition to the above work experience, I have also participated in and/or organized many volunteer and community ventures, including:
