My Platform
Dutchess County is already great, but it can still be changed for the better. I promise to focus on and tackle these following three issues, which I believe will help the community most:
First, progressive infrastructure. Infrastructure is more than buildings and roads. The County needs to encourage the development of affordable housing, upgrade municipal structures and services to green tech, and help municipalities build out infrastructure they need - like the sewer district in Hyde Park. Investing in infrastructure now creates a better and less expensive future for Dutchess.
Second, better use of tax resources and ARP funds. While the current legislator sponsored a bill that spent $12.5 MILLION on upgrades to Dutchess Stadium, our families and businesses are suffering. The people have spoken: they want their taxes and the ARP funds spent on local services and programs! All across my district, I have been hearing that families and individuals want more opportunities for the youth and after-school programs, better services for seniors and those who are differently-abled, and more parks & recreation. I am dedicated to fighting for the better use of tax resources and ARP funds.
Thirdly, the Sheriff department's shooting range. This range not only affects the residents' quality of life as noise often reaches levels that cause hearing loss, it is also a danger to the community. At least two houses have been struck by stray bullets -- it's a tragedy waiting to happen. Furthermore, it demonstrates the current County administration's total disregard for public interest. The residents of Bennett Road have been asking for help for years (some for decades) and no elected official - especially not the current Legislator - will take action to help. According to its own deed, this parcel of land was gifted to the County to be a park. It is public parkland, yet the Sheriff's department has illegally occupied it and barred access for decades. I am already working to return the parkland to the people, and return safety and tranquility to Bennett Road!
Vote Sarina in November, and I will bring Dutchess forward into a new era of happiness and prosperity.
- Invest in progressive infrastructure that sets us up for future success
- Fight to use tax dollars and ARP funds for programs and services that benefit the community
- Relocate the police shooting range on Bennett Road/Creek Road
